Line Assignment Number 2
This rhythm is ongoing, starting small from the middle then endlessly growing bigger. It shows that even if your small you can still grow bigger and better everyday. this rhythm is powerful and straight just trying to reach a goal, ignoring things that get in the way. The rhythm is powerful and shows that everyone can grow in many ways, just focus on your goals.
Line Assignment Number 1
Rousseau The sleeping Gypsy
IMITATIONALISM
The portrait I picked to critique is called The Sleeping Gypsy by Rousseau made in 1897, NewYork. This picture does not represent imitationalism because the proportions are uneven and the woman is missing an arm. The colours in this painting are realistic.
It looks like the gypsy wanted to take a rest in the desert. The picture feels calm and peaceful because of the left over space. This picture is very impressive either way.
EMOTIONALISM
Critiquing this piece for emotionalism is a diffrent story. It looks calm yet depressing at the same time because of the gypsy. The womans face looks tired and unhappy, as if she has taken a very long, exhausting walk. The lion looks as if he is less interested in eating her and more like he is her guardian.
FORMALISM
the formallism is well thought out on this piece. every colour looks great except for the gypsys dress. The lines are smooth and flowing, as if the desert is a sea of sand. the lines varry between sharp and strong to soft and small. the shapes are well proportioned but not quite right. The sand looks as if you could touch it, it looks very soft. After looking at all these forms of art, I still think this painting is a work of art.
